Bridgwater and Taunton College – an introduction Bridgwater and Taunton College is located in Somerset, in the heart of South West England, in a strategic position that offers easy access to the rest of the UK via the M5, the rail network, and Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter airports. The College has centres in Bridgwater, Taunton and Cannington, as well as outreach centres in Yeovil and Paignton. The College’s traditional role as a further and higher education college remains key, but workforce training has now become an integral part of its business; it also caters for individuals of all ages seeking to improve their career prospects by re-training or up-skilling in order to move into, or progress within employment. Despite a declining demographic in the 16-18 age group, Bridgwater and Taunton College has around 28,000 full and part-time students on roll and employs 1,500 staff. The student population includes 1,600 apprentices and 650 students on higher education programmes, as well as a growing international community from over 35 different countries. The College has one of the broadest curricula of any school or college in the United Kingdom, offering 993 qualifications at all levels of study, from entry level programmes right through to full Honours Degrees. It is also one of only a few colleges outside the private sector to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
EfVET is one of the leading European professional associations, which has been created by, and for Vocational Education and Training providers. EfVET’s policy and strategy is formulated by its member colleges and VET institutions. It collaborates with, but is independent of all government and funding bodies. Its income is derived from membership subscription, grants and sponsorship. EfVET represents 25 countries in Europe, 200 learning providers, over 1500 VET institutions and more than 2 million learners. Mission: Promote quality and innovation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training throughout Europe. Develop collaboration, mutual co-operation and sharing of good practice. Give colleges a platform of influence in European TVET policy. Provide a transnational framework to support all co-operative actions aimed at enhancing and improving technical and vocational education and training. EfVET has a key role in representing its members and contributing to EC policy debate on behalf of the VET sector. EfVET is involved in the process of Lifelong Learning via the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLPlatform).
The Somerset Chamber is a membership-based business support organisation which promotes and lobbies for business development in Somerset. As a combined force, with Somerset’s Town Chambers, we represent c.2,000 businesses across the diverse economy of Somerset.
CEBANC is a pioneer of vocational training in Basque Country, Spain and delivers courses in three areas: In-service; Initial; and Adult vocational training. Cebanc focuses its energies on meeting people’s training needs for their entire working life. Our broad range of courses brings us into daily contact with the business community and enables us to adapt to the skilling changes that take place as a result of technological and organisational advances in business. The college offers courses at tertiary and sub-tertiary levels in five areas: administration; business and marketing; health; hospitality and tourism; and computer science. We also work with educational and government institutions on getting people into the workforce, providing on ‘the’ job training for companies. We are involved in Strategic Partnership projects and in Students and Staff mobility under the Erasmus+ Programme.
Politeknika Ikastegia Txorierri (www.txorierri.net) is a subsidised private VET and secondary centre in the Basque Region. Each year the centre provides high quality technical and adult training for 350 full time students and 1000+ adult part time learners. Politeknika Txorierri belongs to the HETEL network of 20 subsidised VET schools in the Basque Region providing vocational education and training to over 8000 full time vocational students (www.hetel.org). Politeknika Txorierri has collaboration agreements with key business and industrial clusters in the Basque Country which permits close collaboration between businesses and the college.

The Secondary School of Catering and Tourism Maribor has been educating students for careers in catering and tourism for more than 60 years. Nowadays our students attend the school in three different courses. The school offers students a three-year vocational upper secondary course in gastronomy and hotel services, a four-year technical upper secondary course in gastronomy and tourism, and a two-year vocational-technical upper secondary course in gastronomy. It offers adult education courses in the field of catering and tourism, too. The school is active in the association of Slovene schools known as Healthy School. It is a UNESCO and Eco school. In association with the local and national institutions the school provides various specialised training and courses, for example courses for wine waiters, bar persons, catering staff etc. Our students and their mentor teachers who take part in numerous competitions in different subjects and fields, often receive top awards. Participating in international projects and in teacher or student exchange programs helps our students and teachers acquire valuable experience and broaden their knowledge.
Maribor – Pohorje Tourist Board has been established within the Municipality of Maribor in the year 2000 as a local tourist organization for: the performance of a commercial public service for the tourism promotion, the establishment of coherent tourist offer, encouraging the development of tourist infrastructure, the promotion of coherent tourist offer and providing information for visitors.
